Welcome Back 2017 2018

Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year.  We are so excited to welcome back all of our St. Bernadette families, and we extend a warm welcome to the many new families joining us this year.  Our St. Bernadette community welcomes you and we look forward to an amazing school year together.  This year we welcome back many returning faces to our staff but we are also excited to introduce you to some new staff members as well.  Please look for a complete list of our staff members coming to you in our September newsletter, which will be emailed and printed to our families during the first week of school.  It will also be posted on our school website.

Opening Day Procedures
School will start at 9:10 a.m. on Tuesday September 5th.  Students will assemble outside on the back playground until 9:10 a.m.  When the bell rings, the students will be escorted into the school where we will have an assembly in the gym.  Parents are kindly asked to stay outside once the students have been escorted into the school.  Should it be raining, students will be asked to come inside.

End of Day Procedures
The safety of your children is our number one priority and it is for that reason that we are seeking your assistance at the end of the day when picking up your child(ren).  This will help us to ensure the safety of our students…remember that you at not a stranger to your child but you are to many others.  We ask you that you have a meeting designate area with your child(ren).  Students in Grades 1 to 8 are dismissed out the back doors.   Bus and Year One, Year Two Kindergarten students are dismissed at the front of the school building.  Siblings are also encouraged to pick a designated area where they can meet daily before preceding home.

The City of Kitchener is continuing to make road and sewer improvements on our street.  Unfortunately, they are behind schedule and it means our street is closed and only open to local traffic.  Our school will have one driveway open for staff, busses and visitors only.  It is not to be used for arrival and departure purposes.  We encourage you to use the adjacent side streets for these purposes.  We ask that you cooperate with the directions and signs posted.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the principal at the school or call John Stevenson at the City of Kitchener (519-741-2200 ext. 7694).  Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we work through this issue.

Open House / Meet the Teacher
We look forward meeting you and your family at our upcoming Welcome Back evening on Tuesday, September 12th beginning at 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.  We will also have a catering company on site providing barbecue hot dogs, veggie dogs and hamburgers.  No pre-orders is necessary.  For $6.00 a combo you have a choice of hamburger or hot dog or veggie dog and chips and water or pop.

Thank you
