St. Bernadette Newswire: Joanne Quirion Is Retiring

Good Evening,

It is with mixed emotions that I am letting our St. Bernadette Community know that our beloved Education Assistant Mrs. Quirion will be retiring at the end of this school year.  We are very sad to see her go but we are happy that she will now have more time to spend with her family.  Mrs. Quirion has devoted many years of service to our students, families and staff at St. Bernadette.  She has performed her duties with professionalism and dedication.   Her wonderful sense of family and her caring, considerate demeanor has enabled her to deal with happenings at our school.  She will truly be missed!

We hope Mrs. Quirion will continue to take care of our front gardens.  Mrs. Quirion has been instrumental for many years by offering her own time to ensure our front entrance looks inviting and beautiful for our students.  She takes much pride in this and it really shows.

There will be more information to follow as to how you can share your thoughts, stories and well-wishes for Mrs. Quirion.  For now, we want to let her know that we are so thankful for the opportunity to have her at our school,  we wish her the best in her next chapter and that we will miss her greatly in the halls of St. Bernadette.

St. Bernadette Newswire: Theresa Hawley is Retiring

Good Morning Bears!

It is with mixed emotions that I am letting our St. Bernadette Community know that our beloved Grade 1 teacher, Mrs. Hawley, will be retiring at the end of this school year.  Mrs. Hawley has been an invaluable part of the St. Bernadette team for many years, touching the lives of many students and families.  She has earned everyone’s respect and admiration for what she does each and every day – making it all look so easy!

There will be more information to follow as to how you can share your thoughts, stories and well-wishes for Mrs. Hawley.  For now, we want to let her know that we are so thankful for the opportunity to teach with her, we wish her the best in her next chapter and that we will miss her greatly in the halls of St. Bernadette!

Thank you Bears!

St. Bernadette Newswire: Week 10 Update

Good Morning Bears,

On behalf of the St. Bernadette staff and myself, I hope that you and your families are safe, healthy and well during these continuing, different times of remote learning and remaining at home for school and work. Please continue to communicate with your classroom teachers. We all want our students and their families to be healthy, happy, and productive for the balance of this school year and into the summer months ahead. Please continue to visit WCDSB Learning at Home and WCDSB Website, where it continues to keep us updated on recent communications and resourceful information, including opportunities for summer learning.

Media reports recently remind us of our call to stand against the injustices that we see in our world today. We continue to strive towards a community that lives out our pastoral plan to be: People of Love, People of Hope and People of Faith. Please continue to hold close in your thoughts and prayers all in our community who are suffering during this time. Let us be sources of peace, comfort and healing to one another as we work together to create a world that is free from all forms of racism, discrimination and hatred.

Tomorrow a separate Newswire will come to you regarding picking up your child’s personal belongings including detailed Health and Safety protocols we must maintain. The notice will also be sent out to you in your child(ren)’s Google and D2L virtual platforms. As well, we can’t wait to celebrate with our grade 8 grads – virtually. A letter will also be sent to families regarding our graduation process tomorrow using the same communication method. Please ensure you look for it.

Remember, we still have 3 weeks left of school and we encourage you to continue engaging in your distance learning.  We want to ensure that learning can continue, so that when we are back to school, it is like we never left!  I realize it is a challenge with the current status of the school year, and the nice weather, but it is important!

Please stay safe, healthy and well. Best wishes with continued remote learning.
Mr. A. Simoes

Kindergarten Registration is STILL OPEN! Sign up for School Today!
Several years ago, the WCDSB established a very easy to use online pre-registration portal to make the registration process as convenient as possible. Parents of children scheduled to begin JK in September 2020 are encouraged to complete the pre-registration process as soon as possible. There will still need to be some in-person contact with the school, but that will be handled at an appropriate time after the COVIC-19 crisis has passed. For non-Catholic families wishing to register, please reach out to the Principal for a required interview process. Please CLICK HERE for all the information you need to start the registration process.

Please visit our NEW “Welcome to Kindergarten” website where you will find valuable information and resources. We look forward to beginning this journey with your child in Catholic education. See the following link Getting Ready For Kindergarten

St. Bernadette Newswire: We Want To Hear From You

Thinking about our St. Bernadette school community, we are interested in learning about your thoughts, feelings and any questions about distance learning. Your participation is voluntary and your feedback will be very important in helping us at St. Bernadette to make sure that we are providing the needed supports for our students, staff and community members

Once you have shared your thoughts, you can “STAR” the thoughts of others.  You will have the opportunity to read the thoughts of others and assign ‘stars’ based on how much you agree:  5 strongly agree, 1 stronger disagree.  This helps us to determine which ideas are most important to the school community.  Please refrain from using any personal names or the comment will have to be removed.

We encourage you to respond to as many thoughts as possible and responses are anonymous.  All information gathered is strictly for Mr. Simoes.

This exchange will be open until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 5th.
Here is the link and only takes a few minutes to complete!
