St. Bernadette Newswire: Week At A Glance November 18th to 22nd

Good Evening;
The Umbrella Project Theme for the month of November is Growth Mindset. Having a growth mindset (the belief that you are in control of your own ability, and can learn and improve) is the key to success. Yes, hard work, effort, and persistence are all important, but not as important as having that underlying belief that you are in control of your own destiny. This week we raise awareness in our students and staff around bullying and the impact it has both on individuals as well as the broader learning environment. During Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week, our school focus on promoting a safer learning environment for all students. While our school engage in bullying awareness and prevention every week of the school year, we recognize this time as a valuable opportunity to raise awareness in parents and the local community. It is important to note that everyone has a role to play in bullying prevention. Students, parents, teachers and school staff are encouraged to work with their Well-Being team, school council, student council and community partners to promote and facilitate participation in Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week.  Schools that have bullying prevention and intervention strategies in place foster a positive learning and teaching environment that supports well-being and helps students reach their full potential.  Providing caring, safe and supportive learning environments are at the heart of our school efforts to promote student achievement, well-being and success.    St. Bernadette Brochure 2019-20

St. Bernadette Newswire: Cold Weather Attire

Good Morning,

We have already had our first taste of colder weather and snow. Unfortunately some of our students have come to school not prepared. Parents are reminded to ensure that your child(ren) comes to school dressed appropriately. We will be having indoor routines when the temperature (with or without a wind chill) is minus 20 degree Celsius or colder. Wearing boots, snow pants, mittens and scarves along with dressing in layers is highly recommended every day. We are running out of extra winter clothing and we can’t always depend on the office for this.  It is also advisable that you provide your child(ren) with extra socks and mittens to replace wet ones.  It is also a good idea to put your child(ren)’s name on each item.  Finally, we always accept donations for winter clothing.  Please send to school any extra mittens, hats, boots, winter coats etc.

 Thank you
