Good Evening BEARS Families and Friends,

Martin Luther King, Jr. is well known for his famous and inspiring speech “I Have a Dream” where he called for an end to racism. But King was more than just a powerful speaker. He was a man who dedicated his life to fighting for racial, social and economic equality and justice for all people. He believed in peaceful civil disobedience to obtain positive change and ultimately shifted the future of social justice movements. On this day, we encourage you to reflect on and be inspired by his activism.

Appreciation Day – Friday, January 18th 2019

Child and Youth Care Worker, Educational Assistant,  and Personal Support Worker, Appreciation Day Friday, January 18th, 2019

To help every student realize their full potential to transform God’s world, we depend on the support and guidance of parents and caregivers, and of every staff member that touches the lives of our students. Supporting student independence to graduation is an important component within our inclusive education model at Waterloo Catholic District School Board. It is vital for our students to learn independent skills, to interact socially and engage with their peers, and to receive intellectual growth opportunities so that they may reach their highest level of God-given potential.

On Friday January 18, 2019, we at WCDSB would like to recognize some of those staff members that work with our students that receive this support throughout their learning journey at WCDSB.We encourage you to join our WCDSB community in marking your appreciation for this important employee group.

St. Bernadette Newswire: Cold Weather Attire

We have already had our first taste of colder weather and snow.  Unfortunately some of our students have come to school not prepared.   Parents are reminded to ensure that your child(ren) comes to school dressed appropriately. We will be having indoor routines when the temperature (with or without a wind chill) is minus 20 degrees Celsius or colder. If it is minus 15, 16, 17, 18 or 19 degrees they will only go out for no more than 20 minutes. The children will be going outside for recess on every other day, unless the administration or teacher in charge decides to keep students in because they feel that conditions are unhealthy for them. Wearing boots, hats, mitts and scarves along with dressing in layers is highly recommended every day. It is advisable that you provide your child with extra socks and mittens to replace wet ones. It is also a good idea to put your child’s name on each item.
Thank you!
